What's in this range
Bowman malleable lacrimal probes across a full size range, and Wilder lacrimal dilators, used to examine, probe and dilate the lacrimal duct system, most often for a suspected blockage.
About the patterns
Bowman probes are malleable (can be gently bent to follow the duct) and supplied in a graded size series, from the finest (000/0000) up to the largest, so the surgeon can work up to the size that passes freely. Wilder dilators have a fine-to-heavy taper, used to gradually widen the punctum and canaliculus before probing or intubation.
Used with
Lacrimal probing and dilation is often followed by work with lacrimal irrigation cannulas, and for surgical cases, lacrimal chisels and lacrimal sac retractors for dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR).

What is a Bowman lacrimal probe used for?
It examines and probes the lacrimal (tear) duct system, commonly to check for or clear a blockage, particularly in infants and children.
Why are Bowman probes sold in a size series?
The surgeon starts with a fine probe and works up in size to find where the duct narrows or is blocked, and to confirm patency once cleared.
What is a lacrimal dilator used for?
It gradually widens the punctum and canaliculus (the tear duct opening and canal) before probing, syringing or intubation.
