What's in this range
Lacrimal sac retractors (Stevenson, Agricola, Knapp) for lacrimal surgery, and Jaffe and Desmarres lid retractors in adult and child blade sizes for general lid procedures.
About the patterns
Stevenson and Agricola lacrimal sac retractors have 3x3 prongs (blunt or sharp) and a self-retaining, adjustable mechanism to hold the lacrimal sac open without an assistant. Knapp retractors use a 4-prong pattern for the same purpose. Jaffe lid retractors come as a pair of blades sized for adult or child use; Desmarres lid retractors are a simpler single-blade pattern.

Lacrimal sac retractors are typically used alongside lacrimal chisels and periosteal elevators and lacrimal probes during dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) and other lacrimal surgery.

What is a lacrimal sac retractor used for?

What's the difference between the Jaffe and Desmarres lid retractors?
Jaffe retractors are supplied as a matched pair of blades for two-handed lid retraction; the Desmarres pattern is a single blade, often used one-handed alongside another instrument.
