What's in this range
The largest range in our ophthalmic instruments: corneal forceps (McPherson, Colibri, Castroviejo), suturing and tying forceps, capsulorhexis forceps (Utrata, Inamura) for cataract surgery, and forceps for handling intraocular lenses (IOLs), across a wide range of tip patterns and degrees of delicacy.
About the patterns
McPherson and Colibri forceps are fine corneal forceps for grasping tissue and sutures near the corneal surface; a tying platform (where fitted) gives a flat surface to tie a knot against. Castroviejo suturing forceps hold and tie fine sutures, sized by tip delicacy in millimetres. Utrata and Inamura capsulorhexis forceps create and tear a circular opening in the lens capsule during cataract surgery. Tennant tying forceps and Ernest-McDonald/Livernois IOL forceps handle and insert the intraocular lens itself.

What is a capsulorhexis forceps used for?
It creates and tears a circular opening in the lens capsule during cataract surgery, a step called capsulorhexis, before the lens is removed.
What does "1x2 teeth" mean on a forceps?
It describes the tip pattern: one tooth on one jaw meshing with two teeth on the other, for a secure but delicate grip on tissue or suture.
What is a tying platform on a forceps?
A small flat surface near the tip that a suture knot can be tied against, making one-handed knot-tying easier during fine suturing.
