What is the difference between the Comen S5 and S8?
Both are monitor-defibrillators with manual defibrillation, AED mode, pacing and monitoring, up to 360 J. The S5 is a compact 4-in-1 with a lithium battery rated for up to 210 maximum-energy discharges and IPX4 protection. The S8 is a portable unit with 25 energy levels, a battery rated for more than 420 maximum-energy discharges, IP44 protection, an 80 mm thermal printer and Wi-Fi, wired and HL7 connectivity.
Is a monitor-defibrillator the same as an AED?
No. An AED is designed for use by anyone, with voice prompts. A monitor-defibrillator is used by trained clinicians and adds manual defibrillation, pacing and patient monitoring. Both the S5 and the S8 also have an AED mode.
