About the range
Bipolar electrodes have both poles at the tip, so current passes only through the tissue they touch - useful where precise, localised coagulation is needed without a return plate. Angled versions reach around structures. A bipolar eraser coagulates a small surface area. Bi-turbinate probes are used for coagulation of the nasal turbinates in ENT.
Do bipolar electrodes need a return plate?
No. Both poles are at the electrode tip, so no patient return plate is needed.
What is a bi-turbinate probe used for?
Coagulation of the inferior nasal turbinates, used in ENT to reduce turbinate size.
Are Teflon-coated probes available?
Yes, the bi-turbinate probes come in plain and Teflon-coated versions, reusable and single-use.
